Eli Helmuth

Certified Guide

Eli has worked as a full-time mountain guide since 1989 and has been AMGA certified since 1991.  He has safely climbed for more than 3,000 days in the mountains of the world with guests and he has done another 3,000 personal days of climbing since 1984.  Eli has worked as an instructor for the AMGA since 1999 and served as the AMGA Alpine Education Coordinator from 2001-2007 and the Head Guide of the Colorado Mountain School during this same tenure.

Training and climbs out of home base in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.  More than 100 successful expeditions in the high mountains including the Andes from Ecuador to Patagonia; high-altitude climbing in Nepal, and expeditions throughout Alaska.  Ice and alpine climbing in Canada and other international destinations including Scotland and the Alps.  Ski mountaineering in the Chugach Range of Alaska.Canada, South America, Nepal. More than 100 expeditions above 19,000’ in the Andes and Himalaya along with another 100 week-long alpine climbing trips in the lower ranges of Alaska, Canada, and the Cascade Range of the United States with guests.   Eli has made numerous first ascents on rock, ice and on cutting-edge alpine routes in Patagonia and Alaska.  Other guided destinations would include; West Rib of Denali (3x), Mt. Waddington (2x), Artesonraju, Peru including new routes in Alaska and the Huayhuash Range of Peru with guests.
