Hans grew up in the USA, but has been living in Switzerland since 1983, guiding his clients throughout the Alps. He and his Swiss wife are raising 2 kids in a cozy chalet that they can ski in and out of, just above Verbier. Hans finished his Swiss Mountain Guide's Certification in 1993.

In winter, Verbier provides Hans with the perfect base for the fantastic "off-piste"/ "ski safari" style of skiing that this area is so well known for. The helicopter base is an 8 minute flight, providing quick access to the higher heliskiing sites in his back yard.

In summer, Hans is climbing with his clients on the fine Chamonix granite, still within view of his house in Verbier. Both France and Italy are within a half hour's drive. The Bernese Alps are also just across the Valley. Hans goes further afield, heliskiing in Greenland in the spring, climbing in the Dolomites, and skippering sailing yachts for his private clients in the Mediterranean. And with the explosion of Downhill Mountain-bike trails and technology, he has introduced another passion to his clients.
