Since 1995, Tim Brown has honed his craft and mountain savvy guiding rock and alpine climbs, and ski mountaineering descents throughout the continental U.S., Alaska, South America, Europe and Africa. He guides and teaches mountain skills over 200 days each year, sharing his passion for exciting backcountry travel with guests of all ages and abilities on outings that range from introductory lessons to extended technical expeditions.

Tim typically spends the summer months leading expeditions in Alaska and South America and guiding rock climbing and mountaineering routes in the Tetons and Colorado. During the winter, he guides backcountry ski descents and ice climbs, and trains hundreds of students and other instructors in Level 1 and 2 avalanche safety courses each year.

Tim’s contagious enthusiasm for sharing unique experiences in remarkable places is matched only by his interest in learning and sharing techniques to mitigate the risks involved in exploring mountains. He is an AMGA Certified Rock and Alpine Guide and has completed the AMGA's Ski Mountaineering Guides Course, bringing him just one step away from international (IFMGA) certification.

His endless curiosity about the natural world pairs nicely with his degree in biology from the University of Virginia to add an additional layer of enjoyment for his guests, who learn more about the places they visit than just what things look like from the summit. Those who keep coming back for more all have stories of Tim smiling when others wouldn’t, like breaking trail with a strong wind in his face or finishing a pitch in the rain.

Tim is also an instructor for the Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE), and a ACA Whitewater Kayaking Instructor Level 4.
